Old rum is a type of rum produced from sugar cane molasses and aged in oak barrels. The old rum aging process can last 3 to 30 years, depending on the region and rum brands. During this process, old rum acquires an amber color and a complex and subtle taste of vanilla, caramel and oak wood. Old rum is produced in the tropical regions of the world, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean.
